What is a creative spark?

You’ve probably come across writing prompts before – those little instructions or sentence starters that tell you what to write about. They might show you an image or give you an idea to get your pen moving. Prompts help guide your thoughts and encourage ideas onto the page.

A creative spark is something different. It’s a flash of inspiration designed to wake up your creativity, to help you feel connected to your own flow and get out of your head and into your senses.

A spark isn’t about giving you a story to write, or a subject to write about. Instead, it invites you to notice – to feel, sense, and experience something differently. It might involve aspects of sensory awareness and play, a sound, a question, or an activity. It’s an invitation to connect with your creative self in a way that’s embodied and alive.
