Sea Dreams

Rachael Lambert (age 13)

I found a dream at the edge of the sea
At the dawning of the day
When sunrise had stained the sea foam rose
And seashells scattered petals lay

And the sand gleamed in golden hues
Which the waves were tenderly caressing
And the ocean, glassy aquamarine
Whispered its ethereal blessing

I tried to clasp the misty dream
But it evaded me, dancing home
And all I’m left with is the bitter scent of salt
And this, this humble poem
