Aislinn Bonanno, age 9
Aisi pushed open the heavy metal gate. It looked beautiful in the forest. With the sun on her face and the crunching leaves under her feet, she was happily walking into the bush. Suddenly she heard the crash of a tree falling and a wild pig came at her from nowhere. Aisi knew that wild pigs are dangerous and could kill people. She watched him come crashing towards her and heard him say, “Get off my land!”
She felt so scared and started running away from the pig but the pig was hot on her trail. While she was running, a big tree was in her way so she had to climb over it. Then Aisi saw a man chopping wood; he was startled to see her and the pig and the pig started chasing him too. A big tree was up ahead: the man said, “Hold my hand,” and Aisi did. He grabbed his glider and flew them up to his tree house. But the pig was still waiting on the ground. He was snorting and yelling up at them, “Get off my land! Get off my land!”
Next, Aisi called out to her monkey friends to help them escape to the fairy kingdom. The monkeys came out of the bush and started making a bridge out of wood from the treehouse, through the trees and to the entry to fairyland. At the end of the bridge, the monkeys built a ladder. Aisi and the man climbed down the ladder and ran to the portal that would take them to fairy land. The portal was a rainbow, swirling circle. Aisi and the woodchopper jumped through the portal.
Aisi and the woodchopper woke up and found themselves lying in beds in the fairy kingdom; they were in a purple palace made out of crystals. A beautiful rainbow fairy queen came through the door and greeted them with some cupcakes.
“Would you like to stay here for a while, and when you are ready, we can take you back to your homes?” she asked. Aisi and the woodchopper didn’t have to think about it for long; they said,
“Yes!”
